This is a brief announcement to let you know I'm temporarily pausing paid subscriptions to recharge and explore new approaches to reporting and writing.
I like this for you, Dan. But we've greatly appreciated your work and will miss you a lot. Please try to return whenever there's an in-depth Brevard story we need to know!
For selfish reasons I’m sad to hear your focus will shift – I have said over and over to colleagues and neighbors how incredible it is to have the caliber, depth, and objectivity of your news coverage in our small county. In this polarized climate, your coverage of local issues has given me a lot of hope in everything from data to elbow grease to community.
Hoping your fallow weeks are restorative and I do look forward to what you’ll share when you return.
Thank you, dan. I always appreciate your articles and ready to resubscribe. Sorry for my delay. I’m with you and hope you continue to write again soon.
As one of those dreadful newcomers to the Brevard area, I’ve relied on your writing to get a deeper feel for the place. Thank you so much! Looking forward to whatever you’re right whenever you return.
You have done fabulous work over the past few years, and I'm very appreciative of your commitment and your abilities. In today's local media markets, something like your newsletter offers an important service. All the best! Look forward to hearing from you again.
Dan, I'm glad to hear of this decision and wish you a creative, restful sabbatical. Your quandary is one that I, and other writers/commentators/analysts, share in this challenging moment. I'm in much the same kind of discernment process myself. Thank you for all you've done for our community here in Transylvania. You have been, and no doubt will continue to be, a bright light in which we see more clearly what is what. Take care, dear colleague.
Good for you, Dan, and I for one will appreciate your upcoming "opinions." Identified as such, they fit the role of seasoned investigative journalists.
Hated to read this note, this morning! But, certainly understood. I and others stand ready to happily pay the "paid subscription" fee. Well worth it over the past seemingly short years. Thanks for the digging, asking, investigating, writing, and time spent reporting on Transylvania/Brevard/Rosman/shoulder communities significant challenges. Frankly, "you just can't make some of the sh__-up! As a fellow-media guy via the likes of Scripps-Howard, CNN, local Televison, and other stops, it has been a pleasure watching your work! Relax, find the next North Star, and let us know when and how you will return? Nory
I have enjoyed reading many of your articles when I was especially interested in the topic as you were often the only reporter covering it in depth. Thank you for the service you have provided to our community. Enjoy your hibernation, and please return when possible.

We’ll ride when you are out of hibernation. 😆. In FLA right now and back in February.
I’ve enjoyed your reporting on Brevard issues so much. Thank you!!! Your work is so needed here. Enjoy time to recharge!
i also enjoy have reading your articles. many thanks.
you deserve a break. Time for some reflection for everybody.
Dan,
I think your writing is even better now than when you started, and you are the only local news source I read (or consume in any other way).
I do think your reporting has been objective, although sometimes just reporting the facts is now often deemed biased if you don’t like the facts.
Thanks for filling a need; I always enjoy seeing Newsbeat show up in my in box. I will miss you and wish you the best.
