Not sure why one could be built and this

One kept operational till new one on line. Kind of sad to realize 2-3 years will be put on hold. Make it all catch and release till back on line.

I LIVE IN SURRY COUNTY AND THE TROUT FISHING IS A JOKE. RIDE AROUND AND THROW A LITTLE NET OF FISH IN A CREEK IS A JOKE. STOCK TROUT ONLY 3-4 MONTHS IS PRETTY BAD. YOU SHOULD STOCK MORE TROUT EARLY ON AND FORGET THE LATER MONTHS. THERE HAS BEEN A LOT OF TROUT WATER LOST IN THIS COUNTY AND THIS DOES NOT HELP. JUST WISH THINGS WERE BETTER AND I GUESS YOU FOLKS DO AS WELL. THANKS

I think this is bull , they should have planned for this for years, I think they put things off except for there pay. they should stock trout all year round and now fishing and hunting license have gone up. after hunting and fishing in north carolina my 50 some years maybe it time to quit . the rich get richer we get screwed.

The biggest question I have is are they going to reopen restrooms for public use? The fact that facility is closed now and between state and local agencies they can’t figure out funding to operate the existing restrooms is absolutely ridiculous!!! Thousands of visitors each year arrive only to find the restrooms closed. Do you think they are driving back down the mountain to another?? Hell no…..they are pissing and shitting in the woods which then ends up in the Davidson River. Local and state agencies should be ashamed and Brevard should be embarrassed. Total crock of shit!!!…..literally!!!

Story was focused on hatchery, but they are also planning to demolish the educational center. Don't know what the plans are for restrooms there.

Thanks for the clarification Dan. Unfortunately, 99% of the public arriving (including me) make no distinction between the hatchery and the educational center. And these nuances between which facility, which agency, ect allow finger pointing and passing the buck between the different governmental agencies involved....all the while the public suffers. SERVE THE PUBLIC!!!! Its our tax dollars
