Riding the future path of the Ecusta Trail is not legal in Transylvania County and not pleasant in Henderson County, where I rode. But it did provide a great preview of the trail's benefits.
This past winter, my husband and I and our dog took advantage of our ignorance and walked quite a bit of the trail in both counties. It was a little rough but we encountered one fellow on a bike, a few other people walking dogs and an elderly couple who were just enjoying a stroll like we were. Everyone seemed pretty excited about the possibilities of the trail. Those trestle bridges are scary but they'll be great once they are fixed. We can hardly wait!

Does the proscription in Transylvania County have the divorce of law?
It's from the property owner, which would make it trespassing.
