After failing to reach a long-term utility agreement with Transylvania County, Rosman Mayor Brian Shelton hopes to sell land to his town as a water plant site. Would such a deal be legal?
Thank you very much for delving into the multiple complexities of this issue which appear to be inseparable from those of a power structure that rewards nepotism and greed.
I don't have any background info on this- but like the last article about Brevard/ prohibiting air bnb's-- too much power and chance for corruption can happen in these small towns. I hope Rosman gets in someone from the outside to do feasibility and make an (unpaid) un-biased decision.
If you aren't allowed to use your voice at a public town meeting about the issues going on and when you speak with Shelton about any issues happening he never wants to do anything about the issues happening mo upgrades have never been made in Rosman only Dollar General we need programs for the children and some mentors with positive changes hands on things
It seems a feasibility study could be done to ascertain the true best site. But it sounds like there are other problems like land owners and title, to mechanical logistics.
The latest developments on the land sale to a Charleston SC realtor, Zach Bennett is highly questionable as is his qualification to build water infrastructure. The Town, and ultimately the County will be required to buy the land back from Bennett at a further premium. County management appear to be asleep at the wheel as usual; School Bond, Courthouse, and tax abatement thrown around like confetti. Accountablility required of Chappell and cohorts.
