Spot on. It's a long day for Chief Judges, but oh so worthwhile and fun.

Tad I am pretty sure that is not correct. I was on a team that went to nursing homes - we were comprised of Republicans, Democrats and Independents. I would contact the Elections Office and ask Jeff Storey to verify. As noted in the story there is a balance of poll workers who identify with various parties and also as independents. The truth is on Election Day no poll workers speak of politics - your sole purpose is to uphold the integrity of the process for all votes regardless of party affiliation.

Having volunteered as a poll worker at 2 elections I agree we have safe, secure and accurate elections in Transylvania County! It never matters which party your co-poll worker may be, all are focused on our job responsibilities and following the oath we took when sworn in as poll workers.

It's my understanding that only Dem & Rep party affiliations are allowed to assist in the process and not those of us who are Unaffiliated.

Tad...... UNA poll workers can be assistants or judges although the Board of Elections prefers one Dem and 1 Rep judge in the event a voter is challenged. The Board always needs poll workers so I encourage you to stop by their office at Gaston &Morgan or go online to transylvaniaelections.org and fill out an online application :)

With the huge number of unaffiliated voters, I'm not surprised their policy may have been changed.
