Hey, Jesse. These are valid points and I do address them in the story. In a way, this is the story of Transylvania as a whole -- attracting enough affordable housing so natives have the option to stay.

Thanks so much Dan. This is such an important issue. I hope this will bring many to the table to find solutions to keep the space for historic residences and moderate/affordable housing. I applaud the progress of the park and Mary C Jenkins Center. Both are huge accomplishments

and I am thankful for the long work of the city and community.

This ridiculous article is everything that is wrong with the Transylvania Times and Brevard (the town) and not Transylvania County whose residents exhibit some degree of uncommon sense.

Nobody is owed anything because of their "historical" roots in the Kommunity. Further, the neighborhood is a dump and no "self help" is evident in their yards or the upkeep of their properties.

Oh boo hoo about their past. Get on with it and go to Hotlanta where you can twerk the days away.

The St. Pete Times approach is long past its expiration date. The liberalism nearly destroyed that city. Fortunately now it is called "The Tampa Bay Times". I call the row along Park Avenue - the pass through to avoid downtown congestion - the Bolsheviks Row. All of the Demonkrat's signs are disgusting. Can't they leave decent people a place to live. Assville awaits their moves from here.

And did you ever think that these liberal lunatics might be the very gentrifiers that you are objecting to in your article. Everything changes. Just ask - Presidente obama.

I think it is worth pointing out the new, white residents are creating the diversity population and changing the demographic of Rosenwald. Perhaps in an effort to create a cohesive community a minor shift in perspective & tone by the new, white residents could be...

"we hope the current community will welcome the diversity we bring and allow us to integrate into their historic neighborhood"

rather than

" (WE welcome) the diversity of the neighborhood...

Thanks, Bruce. Yes and as a previous comment mentioned, happening all over Transylvania. But concentrated right now in Rosenwald.

If all native Transylvanians would realize that this has been happening county wide for more than 30 years we'd all be better able to combat it. This isn't a racial issue. Rich transplants have been pushing all native citizens out of this town and driving up home prices and making it unaffordable for years. Also, if the community remains predominantly black, doesn't that set us back like 60 years in civil rights legislation to gain integration into white communities? I completely agree gentrification is a major issue in Transylvania County making it a problem for all of us.
