As housing prices soar and wages stagnate, large swaths of the county workforce struggle to find shelter and feel marginalized by the community they serve.
Excellent summary of many of the issues. It's so nice to see more local investigative and informative reporting. Thanks Dan. One partial solution not mentioned is the "tiny house" movement. Building affordable ( $200,000 or less) free standing small houses can work in our county but has been ignored and/or given short shrift in restrictive zoning laws by the city and little real attention from county planning and representation. Thanks
great article.. valuable details for our community.
Excellent reporting, Dan. We need some creative solutions. This county should be able to lessen the problem.

Thanks, Don. I'll check out tiny houses for next story on this subject
I was on the housing list but got black balled because of a vicious lie involving my service dog. A chiweenie none the less
Used to want to live in the Brevard area but there are better prices elsewhere in western NC like Bryson City.
No one should have to work two or three jobs and not afford housing. Incomes need to be higher!
