Nice story Dan Dewitt. I too am a Glendalean who has been a Bengal fan my whole life. So easy for me to relate to your writing. Trusting the Bengal Nation can root our team on to victory. (Classmate of your sister Jessie).

Thanks for the glimpse into our past. One time after cutting through the back yards to the Junior High, we met up with some Springdale kids for a little Glendale - Springdale football 🏈. I imagine it was a late fall Saturday afternoon - cold and a little wet. On the hill watching us in his familiar hat was Paul Brown. Your essay brought back that memory. Imagine Paul Brown watching us play a version of backyard football.

I think I know the spot. The field down by the cut-through between junior high and Creekwood.

Hi! I’m sure you don’t remember me. I am another Glendale transplant living in Travelers Rest, South Carolina. Loved your memories! My family also had season tickets in the early days. Your article made me pleasantly homesick!

Not a Bengals fan, but a great Sunday read! And, Cincy has become a bright and fun downtown. Indian Hills was my first few years—Dad was with Scripps-Howard.

Indian Hill. Uncle Bub was also mayor for a while.

Thank you, Eric. You a Bengals fan?

No, but this really resonated because it reaches into the soul of everyone who identifies with the downtrodden but resilient. It's beautiful.
