Unfortunately, outrage fatigue has set in which allows normalization of Trump’s behavior. Many of have tuned out because we can’t handle the personal emotional toll of the daily abominations. What’s the solution for continuing the fight without the emotional impact?

Really, and you call yourself a Patriot? -- But perhaps you make $250K per year or more. If so, you will do Ok, but would do better if you made more. Keep fighting for Trump. He has your best interests at heart... except when it comes to education, clean air and water, rights on the job, wages, privacy, taxes,... but if you are a White Male what do you have to worry about anyway under Trump. I’m just an ordinary citizen. I have to use my own judgment when I weigh opposing opinions.

This “historian” has been studying the historical scene since long before the Presidency was a gleam in Donald Trump’s eye. Disagree with him if you like, but when you do so, recognize that some opinions are more firmly grounded than others. I’m prepared to listen and take his observations seriously.

I’ll take anyone’s position seriously when I can see evidence of their thought development, such as what they have studied, what ideas they’ve advanced over their lifetimes, and the intellectual company they keep. Informed and thoughtful people can be found at every level of American society and throughout the spectrum of politics. The range is worth hearing, but I’ll subtract points from anyone’s opinion if they use ad hominem attacks or unsupported claims when trying to convince me. Screamers get deleted.

But that’s just me, an ordinary citizen.

do you see any evidence, facts or proof offered by the historian to support his allegations? some facts are in trumps first term there was low inflation, high employment and no wars, under biden there was high inflation high unemployment and his massively expensive money support for Ukraine (where his son scored millions of dollars by getting on the burisma company board with no experience and not being Ukrainian), biden's poorly executed afghan pullout left 13 dead soldiers and left billions of dollars in military weapons, ammmo, vehicles and technology for the Taliban to use; and there's Moree much more, such as millions of illegals allowed into the country with working American taxpayers paying all their expenses, even the murderers and drug dealers

other facts are hundreds of thousands of uncessary deaths in a pandemic, police officers killed during a 'day of love' riot incited by Trump, top level security documents taken and stored improperly, extortion of a foreign leader to stay in power and 36 felony endictments.

this 'historian'? is long on hyperbole exaggeration and tying to stoke fear and hatred (the same thing he accuses trump of doing) and very very short on facts evidence or proof; he seems to miss the point that American were fed up with dems censorship, lies (russia collusion and bidens mental condition) , cover ups (Fauci and covid, and bidens mental condition)) and bidens pardons of his whole crime family, who were not even accused of any crimes; the reason the 'historian ' "doesn't understand it" is because he is consumed with hatred of trump, and , like many dems, can't seem to grasp that Americans were fed up with biden and the dems.

Sure I will try. First evidence is you. You do not have a problem with electing a convicted felon for President. The media and people you follow claim a mandate, when the margin of victory is minscule. There is no mandate for Trump. He won. I admit that. (Did Biden win? Do you admit that? If not, that is proof point #2). - Lies and misinformation are not called such anymore... it started ridiculously with "alternative facts." But now, JD Vance and Trump minions can make up facts and comments as they want. No one was eating cats and dogs. But JD Vance does not retract the claim. (Do you agree that Trump lies at a staggering rate or even at all? You have normalized this behavior. -- Check out the link - this media is ok because its owner was behind Trump at his inauguration. Right? The Washington Post is no longer Liberal trash right? https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/01/24/trumps-false-or-misleading-claims-total-30573-over-four-years/) - How about inflation? It went down with Biden and was low prior to the election. Fact. Do you acknowledge that? Trump did not lower it. Actually no President has any influence over inflation and interest rates. If you do not believe that... then you have normalized Trump. - And people do not challenge Trump and his minions when they proclaim Trump will lower inflation. - what about grocery prices? Who called out Trump when he made the bold claim? No one. And Presidents do not control grocery prices... or the weather. -- But I cannot change your mind. There is no reason for me to try as stated in Proverbs 26:4.

your hatred of trump has overcome any objective reasoning power that a real historian would exhibit. inflation was sky high for 4 yrs under biden, millions of illegals flooded our country, many criminals many drug and human traffickers, biden pardoned his entire family, along with murdereres and felons) not one of whom (except felon hunter) has even been accused of a crime, biden was mentally in a garbage basket yet dems lied and lied about his bad condition, then they threw him out (no election , n o voting) and installed kammal (a lot like hitler did in Germany, no?) have you offered any criticism of dems or biden? if not then your overwhelming trump hated is clearly showing and your 'article;e' is nothing but more dem propaganda, name calling, devoid of any facts or proof; its kind os surprising that you are labelled a historian

Conservative stalwart Michael Luttig, former White House counsel in the Reagan administration and 1986 law clerk for Antonin Scalia, then on the D.C. District Court, believes that a second Trump presidency is "a clear and present danger to American democracy."

Ratified by Congress in 1868, Section 3 of the 14th Amendment establishes disqualifications for office. The law is not addressed by today’s corporate media, which treats poor Donald as a valid candidate. Remarkably, the 14th Amendment stipulates:

“No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office ... who, having previously taken an oath ... as an officer of the United States ... to support the Constitution ... shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof.”

More than 100 former GOP officials, and 700 plus national security officials oppose Trump’s election — including former Secretary of Defense Mike Esper, who stated, “Trump was an active danger to democracy while in office.”

With our secured rights for freedom of speech and assembly, for example, Trump has no standing to order the arrest of protestors whom he randomly dislikes, rejecting the Constitution. Nor does he have the right to round-up and deport millions of immigrants, or to call for the assassination of rivals who challenge him. These are unlawful and immoral acts that he champions.

The media avoids condemning his advocated illegalities, including his recent thirst for a violent “purge” against “criminals.” By ignoring Trump’s oppressive mentality and his demonization of innocent people to generate political fodder, newscasts have turned many of his outrages into a normalized narrative of everyday discourse.

you falsely claim the "margin of victory was miniscule" but you failed to offer the facts of the popular vote and electoral college vote. you want the margin to be minuscule but it wasn't. that's not good history writing. inflation rose under biden to outrageous highs, everyone knows that , but you deny it, why? and presidents can affect inflation and interest rates by picking good conservative fiscal officers, but dems love to tax and spend, which of course causes inflation ; why did Kamala say she would control food prices if , as you claim, presidents can't affect food prices. your contradictions and lies are staggering, worse than trump LOL

I am sad that so many people live in a fantasy bubble of their own lies, misinformation and conspiracies. They spout faux-Christiantiy, faux-patriotism, faux-bravado. Stupidity is defined as behavior that shows a lack of good sense or judgment. Nescience means a lack of knowledge or awareness, or ignorance. These two words greatly define the MAGA movement and people's fealty to Trump.

Unfortunately, if it were just corruption, the problem would be more contained.

Sadly, America has definitely turned its back to our original commitment to our raison d'être, equality. Having lost that, we're bound to slide into the abyss.

Despite the Civil War, the original compromise (original sin?) of race-based slavery has haunted and bedeviled our history and remains in the subconscious of those who have held power.

The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was the high water mark of our path towards social justice and equality, and now Trump, with the support of a majority of Americans, is reversing that Act with executive orders. Many factors aligned and contributed to our national failure, but the bottom line is that the corner has been turned.

Like many, I'm heartbroken. And I'm afraid of what will happen here, but I'm powerless to stop the tide and I can't stay and watch it happen.

You are absolutely, 100% wrong.

Executive Order 11246 does not repeal the Civil Rights Act of 1964 or the Equal Employment Opportunity Act of 1972.

Anti-discrimination employment protections established by both of these acts CANNOT be overturned by executive orders since they were passed by Congress and signed into law.

GPT snippets from Fox News do not progress the debate.

Carter’s 1930s Germany analogy is valid. The nexus of kleptocracy and theocracy is there to see in the last 50 years of the GOP journey from Conservative rectitude, standards of behavior and the Rule of Law to the identity with evangelical extremism, neocons, tea party and now the opening of the Corrall to the Tech Moguls. Reagan courted the military industrial complex to drive regime change in other sovereign nations whereas Trump need only focus on domestic conquest as we are all now trussed up like Thanksgiving Turkeys by FB, twitter et al. He has realized, that to deliver his promises to those he is beholden to, that the US is no longer capable of impoverishing the World’s population and is content to focus on victimizing its own citizens.

Hitler made early deals with the Lutheran Church and IG Farben; Trump has the Evangelicals and Musk to do his bidding. Of course, Trumps lifespan will not allow him to see his project through but the people behind the curtain will, unless America awakes, or perhaps fragments.

Senate DOGE Caucus chair Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) has re-upped legislation to cut roughly $2 billion in taxpayer money spent on swag to promote federal agencies.

Expenditures in Ernst’s crosshairs went toward agency mascots, fidget spinners, coloring books, koozies, comic books, and other items the Iowan’s team has called “purely propaganda.”

Ernst’s Stop Wasteful Advertising by the Government (SWAG) Act is inspired by a RebuildLocalNews study that estimated discretionary advertising spending within federal agencies jumped to $1.8 billion in fiscal year 2023, more than double the $778.5 million that had been spent in fiscal year 2018.

“You might mistake Washington for a very expensive kid’s birthday party, with federal employees playing dress up, appearing as mascots, and making coloring books,” Ernst, 54, said in a statement first reported by the Daily Mail. NY Post 1/24/25
